Free time in Boston

If your group hires a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coaches and school bus from Bus Charter Boston and you find yourselves with some free time while in the city, here are a few things you can do for free in Boston. Some of these attractions are a quick visit, others may be rather more time intensive, but one thing's for sure, Boston will never fail to excite and amuse her visitors.
Harvard Square in Cambridge is home to Harvard University, and is a bustling center of activity, with more than 300 registered street performers. Students and academics mix with tourists and locals to crowd the sidewalks and restaurants on weekends and evenings, while the streets are more relaxed during the week.
Walk up the 294 steps inside the granite obelisk that marks the Battle of Bunker Hill.  The Bunker Hill monument offers unparalleled views of the Boston skyline. An exhibition center at the base details the battle.
For a taste of the finest Boston has to offer, take a tour of the Sam Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plains. Visitors are shown how Sam Adams brews its beer in the manner of founder Jim Koch. There are tasting sessions and tours from Monday to Saturday.
45 minute tours are available of the Massachusetts State House. Built in 1798, State House is the oldest building on Beacon Hill. Tours cover the history and lives of famous people of Massachusetts.
For a taste of the history of Boston, take a self guided walking tour of the Freedom Trail. From the Visitor Center on Boston Common, follow the red trail to 16 stops along the way, showing buildings and major points of interest in the fight for America’s Independence.
Go aboard the U.S.S. Constitution, the oldest active fighting ship still carried on Naval Rolls. A visit to the U.S.S. Constitution will provide visitors with information on the history of American Naval Warfare. Although admission is free, it is recommended that a donation be made to contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of the museum that serves this historical ship.
The Museum of Afro-American History is a worthwhile stop. This not-for-profit institution maintains several buildings of historical significance to the Afro-American community. There are exhibits showcasing the lives of Afro-Americans, and their contributions to America. A donation of $5 is suggested as a contribution to the activities and preservation efforts of the institution.
A major collection of historical documents and cultural artifacts are on display at the Commonwealth Museum, recently reopened after major renovations, the permanent display houses the Constitution of the United States, amongst other historically significant items.
