Rainbow Riverfest

The LGBT Coalition of Western Massachusetts offers a number of services to the LGBT community by utilizing community outreach programs, suicide prevention hotline, innovative advocacy and many more. It is mentioned on their site that they hope to “heighten awareness of LGBT issues while paying special attention to the needs of our diverse population.”

Although their work is a noble one, it is neither cheap nor free. Here comes the Rainbow Riverfest – a two day festival that will help raise fund for the LGBT Coalition.

What to expect

The festival will kick off on September 21 with a screening of Wish Me Away, starring Chely Wright, at The Academy of Music. The Holyoke Canoe Club will play host on September 22 with three main sections – Main Stage, Zen Zone Tent and Youth Tent – with gates opening at 11am. The Youth Tent will feature zumba, spoken word and urban line dancing workshops, as well as Q&A sessions with two of the festival’s musicians. You can also find out more about suicide prevention or simply bask in body painting and/or the graffiti art wall.

Finally, you probably saw her on America’s Got Talent or The Glee Project and thought she was Justin Bieber. With similar hair, looks and style you can be forgiven if you made the mistake.
